I developed an appreciation for Acumen during my time working with Grassroots Business Fund in Rwanda, where we worked closely with Acumen to co-invest in KZ Noir, a Rwandan coffee company that supports higher farmer-wages through production and quality improvements. I joined NY+Acumen to connect with like-minded, passionate, and inspiring people in the NYC area, all while educating myself and others in the burgeoning field of impact investing. In my free time, you can find me running along the east river, traveling, hiking, and of course, eating my way through this wonderful city.

I was immediately inspired when initially reading about Acumen and its mission. From its investees to the fellowship program, the revolutionary work they are carrying out is creating a stronger future for all.  I joined NY+Acumen for the community of volunteers also inspired by Acumen’s mission, and their willingness to develop future leaders in social entrepreneurship. Outside of work and NY+Acumen, you’ll find me playing ultimate disc, reading a good book while catching a sunset in Riverside Park, or exploring the city on my bike.

I’ve always had a strong interest in international development, but my volunteer work with a social enterprise incubator a couple years ago sparked my interest in Acumen. I was excited by the idea of social businesses and intrigued by Acumen’s model. In my free time I love exploring all aspects of the city, most importantly the food and desserts.

I’m passionate about social entrepreneurship and Acumen’s work because it has the potential to create a scalable and sustainable solutions to poverty. After a stint at a social business incubator in Mumbai, I ended up in New York and got involved with +Acumen as a way to stay connected to a community of passionate, impact-driven people. I love hiking and am currently on a food quest to find the best Thai restaurant in the city.

Post-graduation, I worked on both debt and equity investments in the private sector— but became increasingly inspired by new solutions for channeling private capital for public good. I firmly believe that private enterprise can contribute to solving social and environmental problems, and admire Acumen for its leadership and global mission. Joining NY+Acumen was my way of supporting Acumen’s work, learning more about impact investing, and making like-minded friends. In my free time, you can find me watching/heckling (and occasionally performing in) improv shows around the city and biking around Brooklyn Bridge Park.
